Fazenda Agricola Augalevada is a biodynamic Galician estate near the Atlantic. This Ribeiro blend of Albariño, Godello and Treixadura is barrel fermented, showing white peach, pear and a saline, textured finish.
Description
Fazenda Agricola Augalevada is a small biodynamic project in Ribeiro, inland Galicia, run by Liliana Fernandez and Iago Garrido. The region sits close to the Atlantic, and the maritime influence brings cool, damp air that keeps the grapes fresh and the acidity high. This white blends three local varieties, Albariño, Godello and Treixadura, each adding a different layer: Albariño for citrus and salinity, Godello for body, and Treixadura for aromatic lift. The wine is fermented in barrel rather than steel, which slows the fermentation and lets the wine take on a fuller, rounder texture through contact with the yeast lees, without heavy oak flavour. Biodynamic farming keeps the vineyards worked by hand and free of synthetic inputs, letting site character come through. The wine is pale straw in the glass, with white peach, pear and melon on the nose over a background of white flowers and fresh dough. The palate is textured and balanced, with a saline, mineral edge that carries a long finish. Serve it at 9 to 11 degrees with grilled prawns, white fish or a plate of Galician seafood.
