Description
Fasoli Gino is a fourth-generation family winery in the Val d'Illasi, in the hills east of Verona, farming organically. This Pinot Grigio comes from the Delle Venezie, the broad north-eastern Italian zone that suits the grape's fresh, unshowy style. The valley's cool nights preserve acidity and aromatic lift, so the fruit stays crisp rather than fat. The wine is made without oak, and that choice defines it: fermentation and holding in inert vessel keeps oxygen and wood away from the wine, protecting primary fruit and a clean line of acidity that carries the grape's delicate character. The result is pale straw in the glass, with pear, green apple and lemon on the nose, lifted by white flowers and a faint almond note. The palate is dry and light, with orchard fruit and citrus peel running to a crisp, mineral finish. Serve well chilled at 8 to 10 degrees in a standard white glass.
