The nose is warm and inviting, vanilla, cinnamon, brown sugar and nutmeg setting a baked spice tone. The palate is where the sweetness arrives in full, marzipan, candied notes and green fruit over a frankly sugary body, the spicing pronounced throughout. The finish stays sweet with clove, burnt sugar and a darker edge. This is a heavily spiced, heavily sweetened style, well made and with the alcohol nicely integrated, but unmistakably built to please a sweet tooth. Approached on those terms, as a rich, spiced after dinner treat, it delivers exactly what it sets out to.
