A 2003 TDL single cask from Famille Ricci, overproof at 66.7 percent and bursting with blackcurrant, red fruits and violet, an oily, fruit-forward Trinidad rum bottled unsweetened from the living Angostura distillery.
Description
This comes from TDL, the working Trinidad distillery within the Angostura group, distilled in 2003 and chosen by the French house Famille Ricci for its 2025 single-cask selection. Bottled overproof at a formidable 66.7 percent and unsweetened, it shows the lighter, more fragrant column-still side of Trinidad rather than the heavy Caroni archetype.
The aroma leads on blackcurrant and red fruits with a fresh, fruity lift over light oak, and the palate keeps that fruit-syrup intensity alongside violet and a notably oily, rounded texture. The finish turns to baked apple and roasted wood with a touch of menthol and burnt sugar. Distilled from Trinidadian molasses on a column still and matured in oak, it pairs the clean, high-distilled Trinidad character with serious cask strength, a vivid and gourmet pour that carries its proof with surprising poise.
