A single cask Montebello agricole from Guadeloupe, distilled at Carrere in 2001 and selected by Famille Ricci at over twenty years, made from fresh cane juice and bottled dry at 45.4%.
Description
Famille Ricci Carrere Montebello Single Cask 21 ans 2001 is a long-aged cane juice rhum from the Carrere distillery, source of the Montebello rhums on Basse-Terre in Guadeloupe, selected here by the independent bottler Famille Ricci. It is a single cask from the 2001 vintage with more than two decades behind it.
Made from fresh-pressed sugar-cane juice and aged a long time, it is bottled at 45.4%. Mature agricole of this age typically keeps a grassy, herbaceous backbone beneath deeper layers of vanilla, baking spice, cocoa, leather and toasted oak, dry and spice-forward rather than sweet. As a single cask it captures one barrel and a specific moment from the early 2000s.
