Description
Bodegas Fabio Coullet farms in the Axarquia, a rugged area east of Malaga in Andalusia, where steep mountains and decomposing slate soils have kept the landscape largely untouched. Secuencial is a dry white blend of Moscatel de Alejandria, Doradilla and Pedro Ximenez, three grapes long associated with the region, here vinified dry rather than sweet. The slate soils drain well and reflect heat, while altitude and coastal influence keep the nights cool, preserving aromatic freshness in a warm climate. The wine is aged nine months in stainless steel tanks, a choice that locks in the floral, grapey character of the Moscatel and keeps the profile fresh and precise, with no oak influence. The colour is pale straw. The nose is markedly aromatic, led by the Moscatel with white flowers, orange peel, white peach and elderflower, and a lift of rose. The palate is dry and delicately balanced, the aromatics carried by fresh acidity and a light almond note on the finish. Serve well chilled at around 9C in a white wine glass.
