Excellence Rhum bottled this single cask of New Yarmouth, a 27 Year Old from 1994 at 67.8%. New Yarmouth in Clarendon has a strong following among independent bottlers, and the 1994 vintage is one of its most admired.
This column still expression leans rich and oaky rather than wildly funky: vanilla, coconut, caramel and dark chocolate sit over roasted oak and dried fruit, with the profile turned up in both intensity and depth. Matured in Ex-Bourbon oak and bottled at near full strength without added sugar, it hits hard on the nose and rewards time in the glass to settle. The finish is long and dry. A deep, powerful sipper for drinkers who already know the 1994 New Yarmouth profile and want it at full volume.
