Description
Enate was established in 1991 in Salas Altas, Huesca, in DO Somontano, in the foothills of the Aragonese Pyrenees, and set out to show that Spanish whites can offer complexity alongside freshness. Somontano sits at altitude, and the elevation brings cool nights and a wide diurnal range that slows ripening and locks in acidity and aromatic detail, so the fruit reaches full ripeness while keeping its freshness. The vineyards are farmed sustainably. This Chardonnay is made to hold that tension between ripe stone fruit and crisp structure, with controlled fermentation that keeps the primary fruit clear and precise rather than pushing the wine towards heavy oak or breadth. The colour is bright lemon. The nose is layered, with green apple against ripe peach and exotic fruit of guava and passion fruit, framed by a mineral undertone from the cool, elevated site. The palate is fresh yet rounded, with melon, pear and stone fruit carried by lively acidity to a clean, mineral finish. Serve chilled at 9 to 11 degrees. It suits richer white fish, roast chicken and roasted vegetables.
