Emmerich Knoll makes this dry Riesling in the Wachau, one of Austria’s finest white wine regions. Grown on terraced slopes above the Danube and rested on its lees, it shows lemon, white peach and a cool stony minerality at the lighter Federspiel weight.

Description
Emmerich Knoll is a family estate in the Wachau, the terraced stretch of Lower Austria along the Danube that helped establish the region's reputation for dry white wine. The vineyards sit on thin soils over gneiss and other primary rock, which drain freely and give Wachau Riesling its firm mineral spine. The Danube moderates the climate while cool air draining off the hills at night preserves acidity and aromatic detail across the growing season. Federspiel is the middle Wachau ripeness category, picked at moderate sugar for a lighter, drier style. After fermentation the wine rests on its fine lees, which softens the texture and adds a subtle savoury depth without masking the fruit. Expect a pale colour, a nose of lemon, white peach and green apple, and a dry palate carried by bright acidity and a cool stony minerality through a clean, citrus-edged finish. Farming here is sustainable and worked with respect for the site. Serve at 8 to 10 degrees in a white wine glass.
