Emina Rueda makes this Sauvignon Blanc in Rueda from vines on loamy, sandy soils. Fermented cool in steel and unoaked, it is fresh and aromatic, with gooseberry, tropical fruit, citrus and white flowers over a crisp, dry finish.
Description
Emina Sauvignon Blanco is made by Bodegas Emina in D.O. Rueda, part of the Matarromera group on the high plateau of Castilla y León. It is a pure Sauvignon Blanc from vines trained on trellises on loamy, sandy soils that drain freely and keep the vines in balance. Rueda's continental climate is central to the style: hot days ripen the fruit while cold nights and a wide daily range preserve acidity and fix the grape's aromatic compounds, so the wine is picked fresh and expressive. Fermentation is in stainless steel at low temperature, with no oak, to keep the aromatics clean and direct. The colour is pale straw with green glints. The nose is aromatic and varietal, with gooseberry, tropical fruit, citrus and white flowers, plus a light green, herbal edge. The palate is fresh and light bodied, dry, with crisp acidity and a clean, zesty finish. This is a straightforward, aromatic style built for early drinking and easy pairing. Serve well chilled at 8 to 10 degrees in a white glass. It works as an aperitif and with fresh salads, goat cheese, white fish and shellfish.
