Description
Emilio Moro Vendimia Seleccionada is made by Bodegas Emilio Moro in Pesquera de Duero, a family producer with more than half a century in Ribera del Duero. The estate farms 375 hectares grafted to its own pure Tempranillo clone, with the oldest plots dating to 1924, on the limestone and clay soils typical of the high Duero. The continental climate of the plateau, with hot days, cold nights and a long growing season, builds deep colour, ripe tannin and concentrated black fruit while holding acidity. The wine is aged for twelve months in French and American oak, a measured elevage where the two woods add fine tannin, vanilla and sweet spice and slow oxygen exchange firms the structure around the fruit. The colour is deep cherry. The nose leads with a bowl of ripe black fruit threaded with liquorice, sweet spice and a toasted, cocoa edge. The palate is full and structured, with ripe but firm tannins and a long, spiced finish, showing the depth and grip that mark good Ribera del Duero. Serve at 17 degrees and decant young bottles. A wine for roast and grilled red meat.
