Emilio Moro La Revelía is a barrel-fermented Godello from D.O. Bierzo, the family’s white project. Eight months on the lees in barrel builds a textured white around pear and apple, with a fresh, mineral core and a subtle creamy depth.
Description
La Revelía is the white wine from Bodegas Emilio Moro, a family known for over half a century in Ribera del Duero, made here from Godello in the D.O. Bierzo in the northwest of Castilla y León. Bierzo is a sheltered valley with an Atlantic-influenced climate and slate and clay soils, conditions that give Godello ripe orchard fruit alongside firm natural acidity and a mineral edge. Godello is a full-bodied white that takes well to barrel work, and this wine is barrel fermented and then aged for eight months on its fine lees in the same barrels. Fermenting in wood integrates the oak gently, while the long lees contact, with the yeast cells slowly breaking down and releasing mannoproteins, builds texture and a soft, creamy depth and protects the wine from oxidation, keeping it fresh. The colour is bright straw yellow. The nose shows ripe pear and green apple with white peach, backed by a discreet note of vanilla and toasted hazelnut from the barrel. The palate is broad and textured, with a fine lees-derived creaminess held in check by clean acidity and a mineral finish. Serve at 11 to 13 degrees. It suits richer fish, poultry and creamy dishes.
