Emilio Moro La Felisa is a young single-variety Tempranillo from this long-standing family in Pesquera de Duero, Ribera del Duero. Organic and vegan, it is fresh and fruit driven, with dark blackberry and blueberry over a firm, mineral frame from the high Duero plateau.
Description
Emilio Moro La Felisa is a Ribera del Duero red made by Bodegas Emilio Moro in Pesquera de Duero, a family that has worked these vineyards for more than half a century. It is a single-variety Tinto Fino, the local Tempranillo clone, grown organically on the high plateau of the Duero valley. The continental climate brings hot days and cold nights, and that wide diurnal range lets the fruit ripen fully while keeping fresh acidity, building colour and dark fruit in the grapes. The calcareous and sandy soils restrict vigour and add a mineral edge. This is a young, fruit-led expression with little or no oak ageing, made to show the variety and the terroir directly, and it is certified organic and vegan. The wine is deep violet, with aromas of dark fruit such as blackberry and blueberry, a hint of liquorice and a stony, earthy lift. The palate is fresh and vibrant, medium to full bodied, with ripe fruit, fine grippy tannin and a savoury, mineral finish. Serve at 15 to 16 degrees, with red meats, grilled vegetables and hard cheeses. It is approachable young but has the structure to take richer dishes.
