Description
Finca Resalso is the youngest wine in the Emilio Moro range, made in Pesquera del Duero in the heart of Ribera del Duero by a family with several generations of winemaking behind it. Despite being an early drinking style, it draws on Tempranillo, known here as Tinto Fino, from some of the estate's oldest vines, which give depth and concentration that belie the wine's price. Ribera del Duero sits high on the Castilian plateau, where hot days and cold nights create a wide diurnal range that locks in colour, acidity and ripe fruit. The wine spends around six months in a mix of French and American oak, a short ageing that rounds the tannins and adds a little spice and vanilla while leaving the fruit firmly in front. The colour is deep cherry red. The nose shows blackberry, ripe cherry and a hint of toast. The palate is fresh and juicy, medium bodied, with supple tannins and a clean, spiced finish. Serve at 16 to 17 degrees.
