Elixir Distillers of London bottled this Foursquare for its Black Tot line, an eighteen year old Barbados rum from the 2006 vintage drawn from Richard Seale's St Philip distillery. Foursquare blends pot and column in the classic island style and bottles without added sugar or colour, so this carries genuine age and the house's clean, additive-free character.
Matured in ex-bourbon oak, it stays fresh and lively despite its years, with fruity, pineapple-led aromatics and an oily, chocolate-tinged palate. The finish brings cherry and vanilla over soft oak. At 48% it is rounded and easy to drink while still showing the structure of long ageing, a fruit-forward, unsweetened Bajan that wears its eighteen years gracefully rather than leaning hard on wood, well suited to unhurried sipping.
