Description
Emilio Moro is a long-established family winery in Ribera del Duero in Castilla y León, better known for its structured Tempranillo reds. Elalba is its first rosé, made in tiny quantities of around 4,800 bottles, blending Tempranillo with the local white Albillo. Ribera del Duero sits high on the Castilian plateau, where the altitude brings cold nights and a wide diurnal range that locks acidity into the grapes even under strong daytime sun. The chalk and limestone soils drain well and add freshness. This rosé is gently pressed to keep the colour pale and aged briefly in wood, which adds a little texture and a slow oxygen exchange without lending heavy oak flavour, so the fruit and floral character stay clear. The colour is pale salmon pink, described by the winery as the first light of dawn. The nose shows pear and strawberry with a gentle hint of dried flowers, joined by white peach and citrus peel. The palate is dry and fresh, with red fruit and a clean, mineral finish. Serve chilled at 9 to 11 degrees. It suits fish, poultry and light dishes.
