El Ron del Artesano specialises in finished Panama rum, light column still spirit from molasses in the Spanish style, where the cask does the talking. This 2023 bottling is a single cask given a moscatel wine finish, the sweet Spanish grape reshaping a young aged ron into something distinctly fruit led.
The moscatel comes through clearly. Ripe fruit and tropical notes fill the nose alongside berries and a slight solvent lift, while the palate is simply and openly fruity, with grapes and mirabelle plum carrying the wine influence. It is bottled unsweetened, so the sweetness on show is grape and cask derived rather than added, an honest fruit forward profile at 43%.
