El Lagar de Moha Nuestra Fauna is a Rueda Verdejo raised for 18 months in clay amphora rather than oak. The neutral vessel keeps it light and fresh, with pear, melon and a subtle herbal edge over saline minerality.

Description
El Lagar de Moha Nuestra Fauna Verdejo en Tinaja is a natural, vegan white from D.O. Rueda, made by Alberto Moro, who works extensively with clay vessels. Rueda lies on the high plateau of Castilla y León, where free-draining gravel soils over a limestone and clay subsoil, wide day-to-night temperature swings and a continental climate give Verdejo its bright acidity and green, herbal character. This wine spends 18 months in clay amphora, or tinaja. Unlike oak, the porous clay allows slow micro-oxygenation without adding wood flavour or tannin, so the fruit stays pure while the long lees contact rounds out the texture and adds a faint saline grip. The fruit is farmed organically, and the wine is made with a natural, low-intervention approach. It pours a pale straw colour and opens with pear, melon and green apple, backed by the fennel and dried-herb tone typical of the grape. The palate is light and refreshing, with a saline, stony finish drawn from the amphora ageing and the limestone soils. Serve well chilled at 8 to 10 degrees.
