Description
A 5 Years Old single malt from Eigashima Shuzo, produced at the Akashi distillery in Hyogo and bottled at cask strength, 50% ABV, for the Japanese market under the White Oak label. Ex-Bourbon maturation is the standard foundation of the White Oak range, and this expression gives an honest picture of what five coastal Hyogo years in bourbon wood produces.
The recorded flavour profile includes cooked fruit, mossy and toasted notes alongside vanilla and a faintly solvent edge, a combination that speaks to a lively, youthful spirit at the heavier end of the cask strength spectrum. The light maritime character of the Akashi site provides a backdrop to the bourbon wood's vanilla and cereal contribution. The cask strength bottling delivers the spirit without dilution, preserving the full texture of the five-year maturation.
