White Oak is the single malt range of Eigashima Shuzo, the Akashi distillery in Hyogo prefecture that holds Japan's longest-standing whisky licence, first granted in 1919. This 5 Years Old is a single cask, cask strength release at 50%, drawn from a red wine cask and bottled for Europe.

The red wine influence is direct and fruit-forward: red cherry, berry and a hint of rose petal sit alongside a gentle tannic structure, all resting on Eigashima's clean and light base spirit. At five years the cask has shaped the character significantly without erasing the distillery's freshness. The 50% bottling strength is measured and makes this one of the more approachable entries in the White Oak single cask programme.
