Description
A single cask single malt from Eigashima Shuzo, drawn from cask number 61071 and bottled in 2016 at cask strength, 50% ABV, for the Japanese market. At 5 Years Old, the expression was matured at the Akashi distillery in Hyogo across American oak and Oloroso sherry casks, giving a dual-wood character to the house's clean coastal spirit.
American oak brings vanilla, light cereal and soft sweetness, while the Oloroso component adds dried fruit, warming spice and a deeper sherry-wood richness to the overall profile. Five years in this combination at the Hyogo coast allows both wood types to make a meaningful contribution without either dominating. The cask strength bottling at 50% delivers the full, unmediated result of the dual maturation. No specific flavour notes were recorded, but the wood combination points to a rounded, balanced and moderately complex dram.
