Description
A 5 Years Old single malt from Eigashima Shuzo, distilled at the Akashi distillery in Hyogo and bottled in 2015 at cask strength, 50% ABV, for the Japanese market. The dual wood programme, combining Ex-Bourbon and Oloroso sherry casks, is one of the most established combinations in the White Oak single malt range, used here over five years at the coastal Akashi site.
Ex-Bourbon wood contributes vanilla, cereal and light orchard fruit, while the Oloroso sherry adds dried fruit and soft warming spice to round the profile. The clean, lightly maritime new make typical of Eigashima's Hyogo distillery sits beneath both influences, providing the spirit's characteristic freshness. No specific flavour notes were recorded for this expression, but the cask combination and the house character point to a smooth, moderately complex and gently sherried coastal single malt.
