Description
The White Oak 4 Years Old Akashi is a cask strength single malt from Eigashima Shuzo, produced at the Akashi distillery in Hyogo and bottled at 50% ABV for the German market. The expression uses a dual wood maturation, combining Ex-Bourbon and Madeira casks to build a profile that bridges the clean vanilla character of bourbon wood and the richer, fortified-wine influence of Madeira.
Madeira cask maturation typically contributes a nutty, dried fruit and toffee-like richness alongside gentle oxidative notes, complementing the vanilla and light cereal the Ex-Bourbon wood provides. At four years of age the Eigashima new make is still lively, and the cask strength bottling at 50% ensures the full interplay of the two wood types comes through clearly. No specific flavour notes were recorded, but the combination points to a layered, smooth and warmly fruity expression.
