Distilled in 2020 at Eigashima Shuzo's Akashi distillery in Hyogo and bottled in 2023 from cask number 122058, this 3 Years Old single cask single malt is bottled at cask strength, 62% ABV, for the Japanese market. Like its sister casks, it is part of a rolling programme of individual cask releases that have become a signature of the Akashi approach to small-batch distilling.
Three years in an Ex-Bourbon cask along the coast of Hyogo brings a gentle vanilla and cereal sweetness to the inherently clean Eigashima new make, with light fruit rounding out the edges. The short maturation keeps the spirit lively and relatively unmoulded by the wood, and the cask strength bottling ensures the full grain and coastal influence is present in the glass. No specific tasting notes were recorded for this cask, but the profile follows the house's typical Ex-Bourbon direction.
