Description
This is a 3 Years Old single cask single malt from Eigashima Shuzo, distilled in 2020 at the Akashi distillery in Hyogo and bottled in 2023 from cask number 120135, at cask strength 63% ABV. Released for the Japanese market, it belongs to the house's series of individual cask bottlings that document the spirit as it moves through different wood types and maturation periods.
Ex-Bourbon maturation over three coastal Hyogo years brings vanilla sweetness and light cereal notes to the fore, the clean and lightly maritime new make coming through clearly at this young age. At 63%, the spirit is powerful and unmediated, and the short maturation means the cask has had only a brief window to shape the liquid. No specific flavour notes were recorded, but the profile is in line with the direct, fruit-tinged character typical of young Akashi Ex-Bourbon casks.
