Description
A vintage single cask single malt from Eigashima Shuzo, distilled in 2019 at the Akashi distillery in Hyogo and bottled in 2023 from cask number 119157, at 4 Years Old and cask strength 60% ABV. The Japanese market release is part of the house's programme of individual cask bottlings that show the range and experimentation underpinning the Akashi range.
Red wine cask maturation over four years at the coastal Hyogo site would typically lend berry fruit, a soft tannic grip and warm spice to the clean Eigashima new make. No flavour notes were recorded for this cask, but the wine wood at cask strength ABV suggests a vivid, fruit-led and direct expression. Eigashima has developed a wide cask programme alongside its traditional bourbon and sherry work, and wine cask releases have become a recurring feature of its single cask output.
