Description
A single cask bottling from Eigashima Shuzo's Akashi distillery in Hyogo, aged 10 Years Old in a single Oloroso sherry cask (cask number 5185) and bottled at cask strength at 55.6% for the European market. Eigashima is one of Japan's oldest whisky producers, with a licence dating to 1919, and its Akashi single malt is produced in small batches, giving individual casks a distinct character.
A decade in Oloroso wood at the coastal Akashi site draws out dried fruit, warming spice and a soft richness that the house's typically clean, lightly maritime new make carries well. Cask strength delivery ensures nothing is lost in dilution. Specific flavour notes were not recorded for this cask, but the combination of mature Oloroso influence and ten years of patience suggests a full, rounded and gently sweet expression.
