Description
Eidos Ermos Blanco comes from Luís Anxo Rodríguez, who built a small family winery at Os Pasás in Arnoia, in the D.O. Ribeiro in Galicia, from 1988. He works 2.7 hectares spread across 29 plots, farming native varieties, recovering the sandy siliceous soils of the sloping sites and keeping yields low with manual, environmentally minded work. The wine blends Albariño, Treixadura, Lado and Torrontés. Ribeiro sits inland from the Atlantic where the rivers cut through granite and slate, and the sandy siliceous soils drain freely and give wines with cut and minerality. Treixadura forms the backbone with orchard fruit and structure, Albariño adds citrus and salinity, and Lado and Torrontés lift the aromatics with white flowers and herbs. The wine is fermented and raised without oak and bottled young to keep its fresh fruit and bright Atlantic acidity intact. Expect a pale straw colour, a nose of lemon, green apple and white flowers, and a dry, mineral palate with white peach, a herbal edge and a saline finish. Serve chilled at 8 to 10 degrees.
