A 12 year old Edradour from the distillery, at 48.2%. Fig, dried fruit and a soft chocolate fill the glass, with a dark berry and a dry tannin from the cask. Water comes from the Ben Vrackie springs above the distillery. It uses an open mash tun, Oregon pine washbacks and worm tub condensers. This is Edradour, one of Scotland’s smallest distilleries.

Description
A 12 year old Edradour, a distillery bottling, from 2012, at 48.2%. Edradour is a small, traditional Highland single malt, owned by Signatory since 2002. A 2018 expansion added a second still house, the production still small and traditional.
The spirit was worked through Oregon pine washbacks and tiny stills for a rich, oily spirit, the worm tubs lending a weighty, oily character. Finished in a Bordeaux cask, the wood building over the oily, full bodied spirit. By the integrating teens congeners fade and esters build, the rich, oily spirit growing creamier. The cool Highland air of the glen gives a slow, even maturation in the small Edradour warehouses. Its tiny copper stills and worm tubs give a rich, oily, full bodied spirit. Ben Vrackie water and a long ferment give the rich Edradour make. It is one of the smallest traditional distilleries in Scotland, long run by just two or three hands.
At a hearty 48.2% it carries real weight. A rich, nutty sweetness, with a dark berry and a dry tannin from the cask. The texture is oily and creamy, the fruit lifted by vanilla. It finishes long, rich and oily. This is a Highland single malt of real character.
