Description

A 12 year old Edradour, a distillery bottling, from 2012, at 59%, 4437 bottles in all. Edradour is a creamy, sherried Highland single malt from one of the smallest distilleries in Scotland. For years its sign read Scotland's smallest distillery; it now calls itself Scotland's little gem.

The spirit was distilled from unpeated malt in tiny copper stills and worm tubs, for a rich, nutty spirit with a waxy depth. An Oloroso cask held it, shaping the oily spirit over the years. Integration folds eugenol (clove) and vanillin (vanilla) into the oily malt, the body fuller and creamier. Active wood frames the rich fruit without overwhelming the oily Highland spirit. It was founded in 1825, growing out of an old farmers' cooperative in the glen above Pitlochry. The cool Highland air of the glen gives a slow, even maturation in the small Edradour warehouses. Its tiny copper stills and worm tubs give a rich, oily, full bodied spirit.

Bottled at a cask strength 59%, it is rich. Chocolate, dried fruit and a waxy oil, with dried fruit, fig and walnut from the cask. Soft chocolate and a nutty oil sit behind the cask. It finishes long, rich and oily. This is the oily, rich malt of tiny Edradour.
