A 21 year old Edradour from the distillery, at 56.2%. A rich, oily Highland fruit of dried fruit and almond, with dried fruit, fig and walnut from the cask. Edradour is one of the smallest traditional distilleries in Scotland, at Pitlochry. It uses an open mash tun, Oregon pine washbacks and worm tub condensers. This is Edradour, one of Scotland’s smallest distilleries.

Description

Edradour from the distillery, a 21 year old, from 1995, at 56.2%, 2027 bottles in all. Edradour is a Highland single malt from Perthshire, traditional and tiny, now Scotland's little gem. Under Signatory the range has grown to a wide run of sherry and wine cask bottlings.

It was made in the smallest of stills and condensed in worm tubs, for the rich, oily make Edradour is known for. Finished in an Oloroso cask, the wood building over the oily, full bodied spirit. At oxidative maturity aldehydes lend a nutty edge while ellagitannins add a gentle, drying grip over the oily malt. A small distillery and a hands on approach shape every cask by hand. Vanillin and oak lactones from the wood lend vanilla and coconut over the fruit. It was founded in 1825, growing out of an old farmers' cooperative in the glen above Pitlochry. Ben Vrackie water and a long ferment give the rich Edradour make.

At its natural 56.2% it is rich and full bodied. Baked apple, marzipan and a creamy malt, with dried fruit, fig and walnut from the cask. The texture is oily and creamy, the fruit lifted by vanilla. It finishes long, rich and oily. This is a Highland single malt of real character.
