Description
This Edradour was bottled by the Paris house La Maison du Whisky, bottled at 46%. Edradour is a Highland single malt from Perthshire, traditional and tiny, now Scotland's little gem. It is one of the smallest traditional distilleries in Scotland, long run by just two or three hands.
The spirit was run through the small stills with their boil ball purifiers, giving the full bodied, creamy Highland spirit. An Oloroso cask held it, shaping the oily spirit over the years. Carrying no age, soft vanillin (vanilla) and a dried fruit suggest a fair spell in cask. The cool Highland air of the glen gives a slow, even maturation in the small Edradour warehouses. The tiny stills and worm tubs give an oily spirit that takes the cask well. A gentle maturation suits the oily make, the nutty richness growing with time. Its tiny copper stills and worm tubs give a rich, oily, full bodied spirit.
At 46% it is smooth and rich. Dried fruit, nut and a soft chocolate, with dried fruit, fig and walnut from the cask. The texture is oily and creamy, the fruit lifted by vanilla. Dried fruit, chocolate and a soft oak see out a long finish. This is a rich Highland malt from the pocket glen at Pitlochry.
