Description
Edradour Cream Liqueur is a whisky cream liqueur from the Edradour distillery in the Scottish Highlands, bottled at 17%. One of the smallest distilleries in Scotland, Edradour builds the liqueur on its own single malt whisky blended with cream into a stable emulsion, so the malt character runs through a soft, sweet base. The use of the house single malt is the point, giving a cream liqueur with a thread of Highland whisky beneath the sweetness rather than a neutral spirit base.
The nose is creamy with hints of malt and vanilla, the palate silky, smooth and creamy with clear butterscotch and chocolate and a touch of the Edradour single malt, finishing mild, round and long with a fine hazelnut note. Behind the bar it works as a body and dessert ingredient, adding dairy richness, butterscotch sweetness and a whisky warmth in one pour, which suits it to an Espresso Martini in place of cream, a layered dessert shot or a float in coffee. Pour it neat or over ice to show the creaminess, or spoon it over vanilla ice cream or chocolate desserts. As a cream liqueur it is a dairy product once opened, so keep it cool and use it reasonably fresh.
