Description
An 11 year old Edradour, a distillery bottling, from 2014, at 46%. Edradour is a Highland single malt from the tiny farm distillery at Pitlochry, long called Scotland's smallest. It keeps the old ways, with an open cast iron mash tun, Oregon pine washbacks and worm tub condensers.
The spirit was distilled slowly in the old farm stillhouse on Ben Vrackie water, building the creamy Edradour style. Finished in a Pedro Ximenez cask, the wood building over the oily, full bodied spirit. By the integrating teens congeners fade and esters build, the rich, oily spirit growing creamier. A small distillery and a hands on approach shape every cask by hand. The worm tubs leave an oily weight that carries through the years in cask. Vanillin and oak lactones from the wood lend vanilla and coconut over the fruit. Its tiny copper stills and worm tubs give a rich, oily, full bodied spirit.
At 46% it is creamy and full. A rich, oily orchard fruit and almond, with raisin, date and treacle from the cask. It is rich and oily, the full bodied spirit shining through. It finishes long, rich and oily. This is a Highland single malt of real character.
