Description
This Edradour was bottled by the Pitlochry bottler Signatory Vintage, a 13 year old, distilled in 2011, from cask 80, bottled at 58.9%, one of 379 bottles. Edradour is a creamy, sherried Highland single malt from one of the smallest distilleries in Scotland. Its tiny copper stills and worm tubs give a rich, oily, full bodied spirit.
Made in the smallest of stills and condensed in worm tubs, the worm tubs lending a weighty, oily character. It was matured in a Marsala cask, the wood working slowly into the rich malt. By the integrating teens congeners fade and esters build, the rich, oily spirit growing creamier. A small distillery and a hands on approach shape every cask by hand. The cool Highland air of the glen gives a slow, even maturation in the small Edradour warehouses. Active wood frames the rich fruit without overwhelming the oily Highland spirit.
Bottled at a cask strength 58.9%, it is rich. A rich, nutty sweetness, with a raisined, herbal sweetness from the cask. It is rich and oily, the full bodied spirit shining through. The finish runs long, nutty and warming. This is a Highland single malt of real character.
