Description
An official release of Edradour, a 10 year old, at 43%. Edradour is a Highland single malt from the tiny farm distillery at Pitlochry, long called Scotland's smallest. It once supplied blends such as House of Lords and King's Ransom.
Made in the smallest of stills and condensed in worm tubs, building the creamy Edradour style. An Oloroso cask held it, shaping the oily spirit over the years. Through integration spirit and wood marry, vanillin settling into a rounded vanilla as ethyl esters lend a riper apple and dried fruit. The tiny stills and worm tubs give an oily spirit that takes the cask well. The worm tubs leave an oily weight that carries through the years in cask. Refill oak lets the rich, oily Edradour character lead the way. A small distillery and a hands on approach shape every cask by hand. Long ageing turns the rich make towards dried fruit, fig and a soft spice.
Reduced to 43%, it is mellow. Chocolate, dried fruit and a waxy oil, with dried fruit, fig and walnut from the cask. A dried fruit and a polished oak give it depth. Dried fruit, chocolate and a soft oak see out a long finish. This is Edradour, one of Scotland's smallest distilleries.
