Description
This Edradour was bottled by the Pitlochry bottler Signatory Vintage, a 10 year old, distilled in 2015, from cask 314, bottled at 46%, one of 545 bottles. Edradour is a Highland single malt from a 19th century farm distillery run by a handful of hands. Its water comes from the Ben Vrackie springs in the hills above the distillery.
Made in the smallest of stills and condensed in worm tubs, for the rich, oily make Edradour is known for. It was matured in an Oloroso cask, the wood working slowly into the rich malt. Through integration spirit and wood marry, vanillin settling into a rounded vanilla as ethyl esters lend a riper apple and dried fruit. Refill oak lets the rich, oily Edradour character lead the way. The cool Highland air of the glen gives a slow, even maturation in the small Edradour warehouses. A small distillery and a hands on approach shape every cask by hand.
At 46% it is creamy and full. A rich, nutty sweetness, with dried fruit, fig and walnut from the cask. Beneath it run dried fruit, chocolate and a soft oil. The finish is rounded, fruity and gently spiced. This is the oily, rich malt of tiny Edradour.
