Description
From the Pitlochry bottler Signatory Vintage, a 10 year old Edradour, distilled in 2012, from cask 345, bottled at 46%. Edradour is a rich Highland malt from the pocket glen at Balnauld, distilled since 1825. A 2018 expansion added a second still house, the production still small and traditional.
It was made in the smallest of stills and condensed in worm tubs, giving the full bodied, creamy Highland spirit. An Oloroso cask held it, shaping the oily spirit over the years. By the integrating teens congeners fade and esters build, the rich, oily spirit growing creamier. Refill oak lets the rich, oily Edradour character lead the way. It keeps the old ways, with an open cast iron mash tun, Oregon pine washbacks and worm tub condensers. The cool Highland air of the glen gives a slow, even maturation in the small Edradour warehouses.
At an approachable 46% it is soft and oily. Dried fruit, chocolate and a nutty oil, with dried fruit, fig and walnut from the cask. A dried fruit and a polished oak give it depth. Dried fruit, chocolate and a soft oak see out a long finish. This is a rich Highland malt from the pocket glen at Pitlochry.
