Description
A 10 year old Edradour from the Pitlochry bottler Signatory Vintage, distilled in 2011, from cask 393, bottled at 57.1%, one of 291 bottles. Edradour is a Highland single malt from the tiny farm distillery at Pitlochry, long called Scotland's smallest. It once supplied blends such as House of Lords and King's Ransom.
It was worked through Oregon pine washbacks and tiny stills for a rich, oily spirit, giving the full bodied, creamy Highland spirit. It was matured in a Moscatel cask, the wood working slowly into the rich malt. In integration lactones (coconut) and vanillin (vanilla) knit with the malt, the nutty chocolate deepening. The cool Highland air of the glen gives a slow, even maturation in the small Edradour warehouses. Its tiny copper stills and worm tubs give a rich, oily, full bodied spirit. Ben Vrackie water and a long ferment give the rich Edradour make.
At its natural 57.1% it is rich and full bodied. A rich, nutty sweetness, with a grapey, floral sweetness from the cask. Soft chocolate and a nutty oil sit behind the cask. It finishes long, rich and oily. This is the oily, rich malt of tiny Edradour.
