Edradour 10 Years Old 2010 Cask #403 (Signatory)

The Pitlochry bottler Signatory Vintage bottled this Edradour, a 10 year old, distilled in 2010, from cask 403, bottled at 46%. Edradour is a full bodied, oily Highland malt made on Ben Vrackie water at Pitlochry. Its water comes from the Ben Vrackie springs in the hills above the distillery.

Drawn off the tiny stills and cooled in worm tubs for an oily make, building the creamy Edradour style. An Oloroso cask held it, shaping the oily spirit over the years. Integration folds eugenol (clove) and vanillin (vanilla) into the oily malt, the body fuller and creamier. The tiny stills and worm tubs give an oily spirit that takes the cask well. Its tiny copper stills and worm tubs give a rich, oily, full bodied spirit. Vanillin and oak lactones from the wood lend vanilla and coconut over the fruit. It once supplied blends such as House of Lords and King's Ransom.

At 46% it is smooth and rich. Baked apple, marzipan and a creamy malt, with dried fruit, fig and walnut from the cask. A baked apple and a gentle spice lift it. Dried fruit, chocolate and a soft oak see out a long finish. This is Edradour, one of Scotland's smallest distilleries.
