Description
A 10 year old Edradour from the Pitlochry bottler Signatory Vintage, distilled in 2009, from cask 62, bottled at 46%. Edradour is a full bodied, oily Highland malt made on Ben Vrackie water at Pitlochry. Under Signatory the range has grown to a wide run of sherry and wine cask bottlings.
Run through the small stills with their boil ball purifiers, for the rich, oily make Edradour is known for. Finished in an Oloroso cask, the wood building over the oily, full bodied spirit. Integration folds eugenol (clove) and vanillin (vanilla) into the oily malt, the body fuller and creamier. A small distillery and a hands on approach shape every cask by hand. The cool Highland air of the glen gives a slow, even maturation in the small Edradour warehouses. Signatory's wide cask range gives the small distillery an unusual variety of finishes. It was bought in 2002 by Andrew Symington of the independent bottler Signatory Vintage.
At 46% it is rich, nutty and full. A rich, nutty sweetness, with dried fruit, fig and walnut from the cask. Fig, nut and a creamy malt fill the middle. Dried fruit, chocolate and a soft oak see out a long finish. This is a Highland single malt of real character.
