Description
This Edradour was bottled by the Pitlochry bottler Signatory Vintage, a 10 year old, distilled in 1992, from cask 467/46, bottled at 46%, one of 892 bottles. Edradour is a small batch Highland malt, owned by the independent bottler Signatory Vintage. A rare Morton refrigerator still cools the wort, one of the last in use in Scotland.
Run through the small stills with their boil ball purifiers, for a full, oily make of dried fruit and chocolate. It rested in ex-Bourbon oak, oak lactones lending vanilla and a little coconut. By the integrating teens congeners fade and esters build, the rich, oily spirit growing creamier. The tiny stills and worm tubs give an oily spirit that takes the cask well. Refill oak lets the rich, oily Edradour character lead the way. It once supplied blends such as House of Lords and King's Ransom. Years in oak round the spirit, the dried fruit and chocolate deepening over the oily core.
At 46% it is rich, nutty and full. Dried fruit, chocolate and a nutty oil, with a soft vanilla from the oak. It is rich and oily, the full bodied spirit shining through. The finish runs long, nutty and warming. This is the oily, rich malt of tiny Edradour.
