Edouard Delaunay sources this Bourgogne Côte d’Or Pinot Noir from the best terroirs of the Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits. Farmed naturally and aged twelve months in French oak, it shows red cherry, wild strawberry and an earthy, savoury finish.
Description
Edouard Delaunay is a Burgundy house revived in 2017 by Laurent Delaunay, who recovered the family maison founded by his great-grandfather in 1893. This Bourgogne Côte d'Or Pinot Noir draws on grapes from the Côte de Beaune and Côte de Nuits, the limestone and clay-limestone slopes that give Burgundian Pinot Noir its combination of red fruit and minerality. The vineyards are worked under natural and respectful agriculture. Pinot Noir is a thin-skinned, early-ripening grape, and the cool continental climate with its wide diurnal range preserves the acidity and delicate aromatics that define the variety. The wine ages twelve months in French oak, mostly used barrels, so the wood adds a light spice frame and gentle oxygenation rather than dominating the fruit. The colour is pale to medium ruby. The nose offers red cherry, wild strawberry and rose with an earthy, forest-floor note. The palate is medium bodied with silky tannins, fresh acidity and a savoury, mineral finish. Serve at 15 to 16 degrees. It is a classic match for roast poultry, duck and mushroom dishes.
