A fifteen-year-old Cuban ron from Santiago de Cuba bottled under the Edmundo Dantes name at 40%, soft and honeyed with caramel, chocolate and a gentle smoky, leathery finish well suited to a cigar.
Description
Edmundo Dantes Santiago de 15 Anos is a Cuban ron carrying fifteen years, distilled at the Santiago de Cuba house and bottled under the Edmundo Dantes name. It sits in the island's refined ron ligero tradition, an aged expression that aims for smooth, honeyed elegance rather than weight or aggression.
Matured in ex-bourbon oak from a molasses base, it shows a soft, rounded Cuban character. The nose is sweet with honey, caramel and chocolate, the palate turns fruity and honeyed with a gentle warmth and a wisp of smoke, and the finish carries chocolate, honey, leather and a smoky edge. There is a light sweetness that flatters rather than dominates, and a faint smokiness that makes it a natural pairing for a Cuban cigar. It is a well-priced, easygoing aged Cuban for relaxed after-dinner sipping, smooth and approachable rather than complex or challenging.
