Description
An Eden Mill, a distillery bottling, at 46%. Eden Mill is a Lowland single malt from the Eden estuary, distilled in small batches since 2014. It stands on the site of the Haig family's Seggie distillery, which made whisky at Guardbridge from 1810.
The spirit was mashed with a brewer's choice of malts and distilled slowly, for the fresh, cereal driven make Eden Mill is known for. A bourbon barrel held it, the young oak framing the cereal driven spirit. Without an age statement, vanillin sweetness and a toasted cereal point to a young, spirit led whisky. The brewing heritage and a choice of malts give the make a cereal depth. Its inaugural single malt was released on St Andrew's Day in 2018, a limited edition. Its water comes from the River Eden, which gives the distillery its name. It was founded in 2012 by Paul Miller as a brewery, and began distilling whisky and gin in 2014.
Reduced to 46%, it is mellow. A fresh, fruity sweetness, with a soft vanilla from the oak. A baked apple and a gentle pepper lift it. Apple, cereal and a soft oak see out the finish. This is a fresh Lowland malt from the home of golf.
