Eckes Edelkirsch Liqueur

Eckes Edelkirsch Liqueur is a fruit liqueur from Nordbrand Nordhausen, one of Germany's best known spirits producers, bottled at 20% and made from fully ripe sour cherries. Finished by hand to a traditional recipe, it draws an intense, fruit forward character from the sour cherry, which gives the liqueur both its rich cherry red colour and its juicy, slightly tart edge against the sweetness. The sour cherry is the heart of it, in the traditional macerated style of fruit liqueurs.

The nose is aromatic with the full fruitiness of ripe sour cherries, the palate sweet and juicy with sour cherry flavours and delicate fruity notes in harmonious balance, finishing long, smooth and fruity with a lingering cherry note. Behind the bar it adds bright cherry flavour, sweetness and a deep colour with just enough tang to keep a drink lively, which suits it to a cherry sour, a sparkling serve or a long drink with tonic. Pour it neat slightly chilled or over ice as a fruity digestif, combine it with sparkling wine or tonic water, or use it to colour and sweeten a mixed drink. Serve it lightly chilled.
