Description
The Beginning marks the moment Echlinville stopped being only the reviver of other names and released whiskey under its own, a 7 Years Old single pot still distilled at the Kircubbin estate on Co. Down's Ards Peninsula. The distillery grows its own barley and floor malts it on site, so this 2024 release of 750 half litre bottles, sold only in Ireland, traces from field to glass in one place.
A mash of malted and unmalted barley gives the true pot still signature, peppery ginger spice and an oily, waxy weight, matured entirely in ex-bourbon casks that add vanilla, coconut and barley sugar. Bottled at a cask strength 50%, it is a confident first word from one of the North's most patient houses.
