A no-age Barbados blend from Dugas, fruit-forward with dried dates, pineapple and citrus over soft column-still oak and cocoa, an easygoing Bajan sipper bottled at 47 percent under the Maison du Rhum label.
Description
Bottled by Dugas for its La Maison du Rhum range, this is a Barbados blend with no stated age, sitting in the smooth, balanced territory the island is known for. Barbados rum at its best marries rich pot-still spirit with cleaner column distillate, landing between light Cuban and heavier Jamaican styles. This release leans toward the softer, fruit-led end at an approachable 47 percent.
Made from molasses and oak-aged, it shows a notably tropical character: dried dates, pineapple and other dried fruit on the nose, then tropical fruit, citrus and a woody backbone on the palate, with cocoa and more pineapple on the finish. The body is soft and the column influence keeps it gentle and a touch sweet rather than aggressive, closer in feel to a Panamanian or Dominican rum than to a heavier Bajan. A pleasant, fruit-forward pour that also makes an easy gift.
