The Glasgow bottler Hunter Laing bottled this Dufftown, a 44 year old, distilled in 1975, bottled at 41.8%, one of 239 bottles. Dufftown is a smooth, approachable Speyside malt from the town with the most distilleries in Scotland. It runs a full lauter mash tun, twelve washbacks and six stills, and works around the clock.

Run through the stills on water from Jock's Well in the Conval Hills, building the smooth Dufftown style. A refill bourbon hogshead held it, keeping the nutty, malty character to the fore. Ethereal and fragile, decades draw the malt to a honeyed, nutty delicacy of sotolon and old oak. Active wood frames the fruit without overwhelming the smooth Speyside spirit. The Singleton of Dufftown is matured in a mix of ex-Bourbon and ex-Sherry oak. It is one of Diageo's largest malt distilleries, making around 5.8 million litres a year. The malty, nutty spirit takes cask flavour well while keeping its Speyside fruit.

At a hearty 41.8% it carries real weight. Green apple, malt and a soft vanilla, with a soft vanilla from the oak. It is nutty and malty, the smooth spirit shining through. It finishes smooth, nutty and approachable. This is Dufftown's nutty, malty Speyside style.
