Dried apricot, almond and caramel on the nose, then fresh spice and vanilla with a syrupy, brown sugar finish, a young pot still Barbados rum bottled at three and a half years and 43% by Sicily’s Duca di Salaparuta.
Description
The first bottling from Rump@blic, a young brand released by the Sicilian house Duca di Salaparuta, this is a pot still Barbados rum drawn from West Indies Rum Distillery stock. At three and a half years and 43% it is light and youthful, aged on the island in ex-bourbon casks before bottling.
The nose offers dried apricot, almond, caramel and light fruit, while the palate is fresh and spice led with vanilla and an alcoholic edge, closing on allspice, brown sugar and a syrupy note. It drinks as a light, gourmet leaning rum suited to an aperitif rather than a deep sipper, pleasant if unassuming given its youth. A gentle, easy introduction to pot still Barbados from an unexpected source.
